Potted Living Sculptures

Chinese potted gardens, similar to the Japanese Bonsai, have been famous for many centuries and are often described as “soundless poetry” or “living sculpture”. Crafts people create a miniature scene in a pot using stunted trees and plants, and rocks. Potted Gardens is made from authentic Chinese paper cuts, a popular and common folk art. Using scissors or an engraving knife on very thin rice paper, skilled crafts people cut the themes of daily life. It is easy to learn paper cutting, but very difficult to master it. Potted Gardens is 4.25” x 4.5” and comes with matching clamshell case. Edition of 10, $195.
